Draft, Lesnar/Kidman, Tara & WWE, Undertaker On Raw

How far ahead do WWE superstars know about being drafted to another brand?

In years past, WWE stars haven't known they were being drafted until it was announced on live television. That wasn't the case this year as both Cody Rhodes and Kofi Kingston knew they were moving because they were involved in the filming of a commercial for Smackdown's move to SyFy. Several workers were notified on Monday afternoon as I reported at this link.

Will Brock Lesnar and/or Billy Kidman ever return to WWE?

I never like to say never in this business but I'm 99.9% sure Brock Lesnar is finished with WWE. He's had great success in UFC and looks to continue that with his comeback this summer. Billy Kidman is under WWE contract as he is a developmental instructor/trainer at Florida Championship Wrestling. Injuries ended his in-ring career. If TNA were to start calling (for example)

Mr. Anderson, Mr. Kennedy, or Team 3D, The Dudley Boyz: Exactly what could (and would) the WWE do about it?

Usually when someone is infringing upon WWE's copyright they demand an immediate cease and desist of the copyright or they will file a lawsuit. If TNA, or any other company, called them out on this they would be quick to react. WWE is very protective of their copyrights and have people in the company not only watching what other companies do but what happens on the Internet as well.

Tara is reported to be leaving TNA. Could she be on her way back to WWE?

Or she hanging up the boots?

Tara says she isn't retiring but I have a hard time believing WWE would bring in a 40-year-old Diva, especially with the Divas division being built around younger workers such as Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly. She has expressed interest in Mixed Martial Arts and may give that a try.Why is The Undertaker never drafted to Raw? Smackdown has been seen as The Undertaker's brand. He likes it and company management likes it. Raw has traditionally had the more star power so The Undertaker has traditionally been the leader on the brand. Many workers enjoy the atmosphere in the Smackdown locker room more than the Raw locker room because it reportedly is more relaxed with less politics. To submit your question for our next installment of Ask WNW, click here.Remember questions with proper spelling and grammar receive top priority and stand the best chance of getting answered. News on the WWE Releases, Mickie's Heat, Katie Lea Plans, Shelton's Rep & More

- The feeling is that the WWE releases came because several stars from NXT and WWE developmental are scheduled to be brought to the main roster soon.
The recent releases aren't a budget-cutting move as much as just WWE making way for new members on the roster.

Shelton Benjamin's contract was releasing soon and there was always frustration internally with him. Shelton had the reputation of being one who coasted through the job and that his promos were never as good as his in-ring work.

Mickie James' release from WWE didn't surprise many within the company. Apparently there was talk of cutting her before WrestleMania. Word is that while on the SmackDown brand, Mickie had a few run-ins with Batista and when things became heated, he threatened to quit if she wasn't fired and Undertaker had to step in and calm things down. It's said that Mickie's recent behavior on the European tour was the deciding factor in letting her go.

It's said that Mike Knox didn't carry himself like a main eventer backstage but he still had his share of supporters within WWE. At one point, Shawn Michaels and Triple H were among those in favor of pushing Knox.

There was speculation online that Jimmy Wang Yang's release came after a Wellness violation because he Tweeted "three strikes and your out" after being released. Yang was referring to his third time being fired from the company.

Katie Lea's release was not something planned in advance because the WWE creative team had her booked to move to SmackDown in the Draft.

It's said that Slam Master J, son of the late Terry Gordy, mainly had a job because SmackDown head writer Michael Hayes considered him almost like a son. His release came as a bit of a surprise to some because Hayes had always protected him.

New Match to Open TNA's Lockdown PPV, Rumor on Christy Hemme's New TNA Deal

For what it's worth, The Honky Tonk Man wrote on Facebook that Christy Hemme's new three-year deal with TNA is worth $175,000 a year, far more than the other TNA Knockouts are earning. Honky's Facebook says that Eric Bischoff played a big part in getting Hemme her new deal. Honky also claims that Hemme's new deal with TNA has left some of the other Knockouts upset.
- The opening match for this Sunday's TNA Lockdown pay-per-view will be James Storm vs. Rob Van Dam. The winner of the match will get the "numbers advantage" for his team in the Lethal Lockdown main event

WWE Smackdown Is Moving To SyFy

According to a report by The Los Angeles Times, WWE Smackdown is leaving MyNetwork TV and heading to SyFy. The deal will fully be announced later this week, but the report noted that SyFy will be paying $30 million a year for the show, up from the $20 million the company was getting for the show. WWE was free to shop the show around to new channels, but had to move the series to a network owned by NBC-Universal on cable. Smackdown will continue to air on MyNetwork TV until late September or early October. SyFy formerly hosted ECW, and now airs WWE NXT.

Sheamus Works as Face, Cody Rhodes Update, Swagger/Mysterio

Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger for the World Title is being advertised for the main events of the SmackDown shows in Tennessee on May 1st and 2nd.
- Cody Rhodes has been wearing amateur wrestling head gear during the WWE European tour, to go along with the punt kick he received from Randy Orton at WrestleMania.
- After the RAW live event in Dublin this weekend, John Cena cut a promo on the hometown hero Sheamus following their match that Cena won. Cena put Sheamus over as a WWE Superstar and handed him the WWE Title. Sheamus then cut a babyface promo to the hometown crowd, laid the WWE Title down in the ring and said that was for them. The crowd popped big for Sheamus as he celebrated with the fans to end the show.

7 eleven & WWE

"This is much bigger for us than what we did in the first film," he tells Marketing Daily. "For the first, it was about Slurpee; this includes Big Gulp, so it's about 10 different cups." He says retail elements include front-of-store and window banners. There is also a separate promotion with Reese's candy, which is sold at 7-Eleven.

Brody says films are just one part of the company's promotional strategy, which includes sponsorships around gaming, sports and TV programs.

"We have had success with anything that's exciting; in the case of blockbuster films, it's something where excitement is building well before the premiere," he says, adding that 7-Eleven has programs with WWE Summerslam, and a big promotion planned around a video game. "But films do very well -- no question about it. There is so much support as well from studio and distributors. It really gives lots of buzz to a property

Details Behind Lance Cade's Departure From World Wrestling Entertainment

As reported earlier, Lance Cade was released again last week by World Wrestling Entertainment.
He was re-hired this past October, but was conspicuously never used sans a one-off appearance in developmental. In an interview last week with PWInsider.com, Cade said John Laurinaitis told him last December they were going to call him up to the main roster, but he was having problems going through pain killer withdrawal and it was keeping him awake.
He said that led to getting hooked on sleeping pills, so he called the office and asked to be put into rehab. Cade completed four weeks of rehab and in early March, talked to his mentor, Shawn Michaels. He claimed HBK told him "he's done" and would never be used a top guy.
During the interview, Cade expressed his displeasure with being let by WWE as he couldn't understand why they would fire him for asking to go to rehab considering that everyone else is given an ultimatum to take up rehabilitation assistance or have their contract terminated. He felt he was doing the right thing by addressing the issue and asking to enter rehab, especially considering that his ongoing pill problems stemmed from working for WWE.
He then said he doesn't want to be part of a company that says they want to help wrestlers with their issues, but then turn their backs on them when they ask for help. He also feels it sends a bad message to the wrestlers in the locker room that if they get injured and take time off, they'll lose their spot. Or, if they have issues medication and ask for help, they'll be fired. Additionally, Cade implied during the interview that there are top guys doing stuff much worse than he had done, saying WWE's drug testing policy "doesn't apply to everyone.
" Cade was previously released from WWE on October 14, 2008. Jim Ross later stated on his official website that "he made a major league mistake while utilizing bad judgment" and that it was instrumental to his departure. J.R. also made reference to Cade having a seizure on a plane and needing emergency medical care.

Latest on the 2011 WWE Hall of Fame, Note on WWE PPV Increase

- Since WWE started the pay-per-view price increase with the Royal Rumble in January, they have not suffered any significant hit on pay-per-view buys.

- Because WWE in general wasn't happy with this year's Hall of Fame ceremony, they have been working on next year's event in advance. Names currently being discussed include Bill Goldberg, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger and The Steiner Brothers. Sting is also being talked about but his status with TNA will always play a factor, obviously.

While it probably will never happen, two people in the company brought up Ted Turner's name this past week. It's said that Goldberg and Simmons are likely a lock for next year's class.

Former TNA Star Backstage At Raw, NXT Rookie Suffers Food Poisoning, More

Recently released TNA star Sean Morley was backstage at Monday's Raw, which emanated from his hometown of Phoenix. He was simply visiting friends.
Morely worked for TNA as recently as February before parting ways with the organization to compete in Mexico. He wrote the following note on his Facebook account regarding his experience: "Just got back from visiting old friends at Raw here in Phoenix. Drive to the arena with my buddy Matt(Atrain). It's always great to see old friends again."
-- NXT rookie Skip Sheffield noted on his Twitter account this past week that he was suffering from food poisoning. He said he vomited three times and had very high body temperature. He's blaming his sickness on Burger King and said he will never eat there again.
-- Today marks the twenty-year anniversary of the historic Champion vs. Champion match between Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI.

Vince McMahon's "Mr. McMahon" Character Reportedly Finished

Vince McMahon was privately saying over the past week that his match with Bret Hart at WrestleMania would be the blow-off to the evil "Mr. McMahon" television character.

He noted that the "Mr. McMahon" character was spawned by the aftermath of "Montreal" in 1997 and that WrestleMania was the right time and perfect angle to finish the story and put the character to rest. It should be noted that McMahon, who is of the belief that television is for younger faces and having an aging look is death to the promotion, has said in the past that he felt he was too old to be a performer. However, an angle would come up, ratings would come down and he'd get the itch to return.

McMahon was originally pegged for a match with Undertaker at WrestleMania before the angle with Hart was put together. His absolute destruction at the hands of the Hart family was meant to signify the end of the character, to blow off all the heel heat off the character, and for the character to ultimate be turned babyface. However, many noted amusement that the scenario he chose to turn babyface completely failed.

WWE Creative Update on WrestleMania, TV News for Tonight's HOF

The three WWE Hall of Fame inductions that will be shown on TV tonight are Gorgeous George, Bob Uecker and Ted DiBiase. It's hard to believe that WWE isn't airing the induction of Stu Hart on TV.
- As of this afternoon, WWE officials were still going over the match order for tomorrow's WrestleMania 26. Believe it or not, there has at least been talk this weekend of having Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart as the last match. It was previously noted that John Cena vs. Batista was set to go on last but apparently they still haven't decided.

Matt Hardy Says Jeff Will Be Back In WWE

Matt Hardy said the following about his brother Jeff being in TNA: "It's one of those things. Jeff can't handle the schedule right now. I think it's not going to be a long-term thing. I think as soon as his body heals up and he gets it together, he'll be back in the WWE again."

Bret Hart Speaks On Returning to WWE, Vince McMahon,

Hart speaks... Fanhouse has an interview up with Bret Hart. Highlights are below. On returning to WWE: "You know, it was really a surreal kind of feeling.
When I was doing it, I thought -- as I waited for it to happen -- that I thought I was going to get nervous but I never got nervous at all."On how he gets along with Vince McMahon: "We're pretty respectful of one another.
I think there's some genuine ... I think he feels bad for what happened. I think in a lot of ways Vince was a big fan. Vince McMahon is the world's biggest wrestling fan. He loved all the work I contributed.
The only thing Vince loves more than wrestling is his money and somehow that's where we ended up having a lot of problems. We're all right as far as ... it's sort of a mutual respect. He's done a lot for me and done a lot for my family and the wrestling world and wrestling industry. He's just got a funny way of doing business sometimes.
"On his role with WWE after Wrestlemania: "I think I'm going to do a little bit of stuff with them but I think for the most part that my role wraps up on Sunday.

Bret Hart vs Vince McMahon: The Predictions

As wrestling fans, we love to make predictions. But those in the business itself do too. Though Undertaker versus Shawn Michaels and the two world title matches are probably more important to WWE in the long run, it's the Bret "The Hitman" Hart against Vince McMahon Street Fight that has people talking. Check out the predictions from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Hart Dynasty and others!

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Wrestling icon"I'll give you two. Bret Hart wins, unless they're going to go to Backlash and bring it back. Then Vince will win first, and Bret will win the other one. But if they're going to go one match, Bret's going to win."

Was it a match you ever thought would happen?Austin: "I'm glad it is happening. I think it brings closure to their storyline, which goes back to the Montreal Screwjob, to all the hardships and heartaches that they've endured on a personal level. To see them in the ring working together, make no mistake about it, wrestling is a cooperation game. I have no doubt that Bret's going to be laying in his stuff extra-snug, but it's good to see Bret's moved on. Bret's one of my favorite guys to ever be in the ring with, and one of the guys that I respect the most. I've worked with both of the guys. Vince is a classic heel. He's not athletic. But he loves to be hated, he thrives on it. And Bret loves being loved, and he's a great babyface, and he's that humble, working every day babyface. It's going to be a damn good match."

Joe E. Legend, International superstar"I can't say because I'm biased. I was on tour with Bret last year and he and I came up with a 'fantasy scenario' of how he's do it IF he ever went back for it. We came up with a WICKED finish and it would be unfair of me to give it away just in case he goes with what we discussed."

Dan Murphy, Senior Writer, Pro Wrestling IllustratedGiven Hart's health problems and McMahon’s age, most analysts are keeping their expectations fairly low. But Hart isn’t about to mail in a poor performance at WrestleMania, and neither is Vince. Expect this match to get wild, with a lot of action outside the ring and plenty of outside interference. As for the finish, Vince will try to again mine the Montreal Screwjob by applying a sharpshooter and hoping for a quick bell. It won’t happen. Bret will counter the move. Bret scores the clean pinfall with a clothesline. And if Jim Neidhart is at ringside, expect to see Vince take an old-fashioned Hart Attack for good measure.
fctAdTag("bigbox",MyGenericTagVar,1);

function ebBannerFlash_0_06488589042702397_DoFSCommand(command,args){ebScriptWin0_06488589042702397.gEbBanners[0].displayUnit.handleFSCommand(command,args,"ebBannerFlash_0_06488589042702397");}
ebBannerFlash_0_06488589042702397_DoFSCommand(command,args);
function ebIsFlashExtInterfaceExist(){return true;}

David Hart Smith, WWE superstar, nephew of Bret Hart"Geez, well, Mr. McMahon is not known to be a master technician in the ring or much of anything as a wrestler. I would think that Bret would take this one, and would hopefully be able to put him in the Sharpshooter to get the victory -- to make him say, 'Uncle,' there wouldn't be a better move to beat him with."

"Hot Shot" Johnny Devine, wrestler and The Fight Network personality"I am going to say Bret via sharpshooter clean, or at the very least the same finish as Bret/Austin where Austin passed out. I could see something like Vince passing out and Bret shaving him as well."

Sheldon Goldberg, Co-Owner/Promoter New England Championship Wrestling; Host/Producer: The Mouthpiece Wrestling Show Honestly, who ever thought this match would happen? Bret Hart, though his amazing autobiography (which is one of the best bios of any kind I have ever read), got the last word in print, but he deserves to get the last word in the ring -- and at WrestleMania where many more people will see it. The storybook ending would have Vince McMahon tapping out in the sharpshooter -- poetic justice, that would just happen to be good for business. But what really makes me smile is that Bret Hart is back involved in wrestling on a major league level. Even having had a stroke, a WWE with Bret Hart working in any capacity, is a better WWE, in my opinion.

Natalya, WWE Diva, niece of Bret Hart"I think Vince, in his match, will try to pull every trick in the book. But who knows, that's kind of the exciting part of it. Every week that we've been watching it, following it, every week gets a little bit more exciting. It's funny to watch it all unfold, it's interesting to watch the dynamics. I think Bret will come out victorious, but I don't think, I don't expect it to go down without some serious turmoil. ... we can hope Vince slips on a banana peel, Bret puts on the Sharpshooter, or some sort of submission hold. We're always there if he needs us."

Dave Republic, promoter, Extreme Canadian Championship WrestlingFor Bret versus Vince we are not going to have a wrestling clinic -- instead, lots of brawling and Bret dishing out a beating to score his revenge. I see Bret winning with the sharpshooter, a major in-ring celebration with all the Harts in attendance and closing the book on this 12.5 year angle. Coming out of this match, hopefully the Hart Dynasty plays into stopping interference to assist McMahon (perhaps from some NXT guys or even Shawn Michaels?) and then the new generation of Harts get the push they so rightfully deserve.

"Bloody" Bill Skullion, Ontario indy worker"It should be really entertaining. It's the only match I really give a s--- about on the show. Vince, screw job. I think there will be a sh--load of juice though."

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE had reached out to Bill Goldberg "some time back." Bret Hart Write in his Facebook Account

It's one week until WrestleMania and I have to admit to being totally pumped up. Phoenix has always been a great place for me over the years.
My last memory being there was back in 1999 with WCW where I vaguely recall winning the WCW tag-team belts with none other than Bill Goldberg. I don't remember losing them ever anywhere, but like everything in WCW, nothing made much sense.
On a better note, it was great seeing my pal, Stone Cold, last week on Raw. We talked for some time about our old WrestleMania 13 match and how great it was.
Steve looked terrific and was excited about his acting career. We left things off that he might come visit me in Hawaii and try to help me with some of the wild pigs tearing up my neighborhood down there. I also had a long look back with Kevin Dunn and Pat Patterson after Raw last week. We had some nice reflections on Owen that reminded us all what a tragic loss his passing was. We had some laughs too, and Pat laughed until he cried. All in all, it as a great night for me in San Diego last week.
I stopped by to visit and give a pep talk to the Hitmen before the first game of the playoffs against the Moose Jaw Warriors. I rarely do this but I made an exception. I stammered a few words about them being Andre the Giant and that Moose Jaw was Barry Horrowitz.
That seemed to blow up in my face completely as the Hitmen lost, and then lost again last night. On Friday night, I stopped by to see my pal Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks. They had just lost a close one against the Flames and Joe called out with a smile that maybe I should give them a pep talk. I said, "no more pep talks for me." Anyway, I gotta run to the airport, taking my son Blade down like the good old days again. Thanks again to my great fans all over the world for being in my corner these past three months. I'll never forget it nor will I let you down next Sunday. WrestleMania, here I come!-Bret
P.S. I will have a WrestleMania week sale at my online store starting on Wednesday this week, check brethart.com/store . THANKS HITMAN FANS!

Jesse Ventura Lashes Out At Hulk Hogan, TNA Ratings

About.com recently interviewed Jesse Ventura. Ventura had some interesting things to say about Hogan, here are some highlights...
"Hogan was the one that ratted me out to Vince. From the days that I came into wrestling, that was a no-no and Hogan knows that. You were called an office stooge if you ratted a guy to the promoter. And that's how I feel Hogan was to me, an office stooge. Hogan denies that he did it but I know that he did. When I sued Vince McMahon and we went to federal court, we had to put him in deposition. I told my attorney this story and asked him that in this deposition if he could work his way around it, I'd really like to know who ratted on me. So my attorney asked Vince, and they can ask anything in a deposition, and this is under oath: "Mr. McMahon, has there ever been a union in wrestling?" Vince said no. "Has anyone ever tried to form one?" and Vince said that I think that Jesse Ventura might have spouted his mouth about it once or twice. My attorney asked how do you know this? Did you hear Mr. Ventura do this? And with no hesitation, Vince went: "No. Hulk Hogan told me." I didn't show any emotion but I almost fell out of the chair. At that time, Hogan and I were friends. And I thought, wow, he is the guy that ran and ratted me out when I tried to unionize wrestling. I found out why he did it though. Because in discovery of my court case, I found out that at WrestleMania III, Hulk Hogan individually got paid more money than all the rest of us did combined. And that is documented." -- Chris sent in the following: For the week ending February 28 2010...

TNA iMPACT! from February 25 (airing on Bravo on February 27) drew 91,000 viewers in the first airing of the week (+26,000 viewers) - the Bravo+1 airing didn't draw a rating in the top 10... For some reason we don't have RAW ratings (from February 22) - I'm not sure whether RAW aired on a different channel (it was meant to air on Sky Sports 3, but they have no mention of RAW this week) or what happened, but that would potentially mean that Raw drew 25,000 viewers or less for this week in its various airings. SmackDown! from February 26 - drew 165,000 viewers in its first airing (another reason to believe the lack of Raw is a snafu, and not some huge anti-RAW movement) The debut episode of NXT drew 38,000 viewers in its first airing.

Fans To Riot If HBK Beats Taker?, Another RAW Roster Trade

WPEN Intern sent along the following: Hey, just wanted to report yet another WWE.com error. I was going through their list of "The Top 25 Most Impactful Women," and on number 25, Torrie Wilson, it says she had "one of the most downloaded matches in WWE.com history - a Bikini Contest against Sable from Judgment Day in 2002." This is untrue, as it was actually 2003. You think they would have gotten a better editor for the Website by now.

Ahmed sent along the following: I don't know if you care or not but apparently there's a thread on WWE Universe and a big unmber of WWE fans threaten to riot if HBK wins at WrestleMania, Just reminded me of John Cena vs. RVD at One Night Stand 2006. Check it out at this link.

"Taz" sent along the following: I noticed they moved Vladimir Kozlov to the RAW brand. Just though I'd pass it along
